A.  Principles of Work Safety

The principle of work safety in every job must be carried out safely and safely. An accident that occurs can be caused by human factors, equipment, or both. The cause of this accident must be addressed immediately to avoid work accidents. Things that need to be known so that work can be done safely, including:

1. Know and understand the work to be carried out
2. Know the dangers that can arise from the work you are going to do

Knowing the two things mentioned above will create a safe work environment and no accidents will occur, whether they occur to humans or equipment.

B. The Importance of Work Safety

Occupational safety is very important to note and implement, among others, to:

1. Save employees from suffering illness or disability, lost time, and lost cash income.
2. Saving workers’ families from sadness or distress, loss of cash receipts, and an uncertain future due to work accidents.
3. Save the company from loss of manpower, expenses due to accidents, retraining or replacing employees, lost time due to work stoppages, and decreased production.

C.  Work Safety Development

Prevention of work accidents needs to be done, one of which is by fostering work safety for employees so that they can minimize/eliminate hazardous conditions in the workplace. There are many ways that companies can do to foster the safety of their employees, both indoors (in-door safety development) or practice in the field (out-door safety development). Every company must have a safety officer as personnel or part who is responsible for fostering the work safety of employees and company guests. Efforts that can be made in the context of fostering work safety include:

1. Brief counseling or safety talk
   • A short motivation about work safety which is generally done every time you start work or on certain days for 10 minutes before work starts.
   • Installation of work safety posters
   • Screening of films or slides about work safety

2. Safety committee
   • Strive to create a good working atmosphere
   • Instill a very high sense of awareness or discipline about the importance of work safety
   • Providing information about work safety techniques and work safety equipment.

3. Education and training
   • Carrying out work safety courses either by sending employees to work safety training sites or inviting work safety experts from outside the company to provide training within the company.
   • Implementation can be in the country or outside
   • Training in the use of work safety equipment. Work safety equipment must be provided by the company. This tool is in the form of personal protective equipment that is needed according to the conditions

D.  Implementation of Construction Safety by Service Providers and Users

1. The Service Provider referred to is obliged to implement safety operations
2. Service Providers as referred to are required to carry out hazard identification, risk assessment and risk/opportunity control (Hazard Identification Risk Assessment Opportunity) of construction work, targets and construction safety programs, which are made based on work stages (Work Breakdown Structure).
3. The implementation of the SMKK by the Service Provider as intended is carried out in accordance with the provisions listed.
4. The implementation of SMKK by Service Users of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing as intended is carried out in accordance with the provisions listed.
